Coonara Community House is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) - Registration No. 3733

Updated Training Packages Coonara endeavours to offer the most current training packages available. Training packages are based on nationally identified industry competency (skills) standards and are regularly reviewed and updated. That means that courses focus on the skills and knowledge that industry says it needs.

ASSISTANCE WITH ADULT EDUCATION FEES




Both the State and Federal government provide schemes to assist eligible students with tuition fees.

Are you a parent who has been out of the workforce and formal education for at least two years? Thinking of returning to work in the next 12 months and still have a child under 12 years?
The state Government is funding 20, $1000 learning packages at Coonara for parents returning to earning.

The package can include -
  • Initial career guidance and course selection interview
  • Recognition of existing skills process
  • Your choice of approved accredited or non accredited courses
  • Books, childcare expenses


Participant Eligibility



The Returning to Earning grants will support parents to return to work who:

  • Have been absent from education, accredited training* and the workforce for over two years while caring for children
  • Are currently unemployed and wish to return to work, preferably in the next 12 months
  • Have not worked for more than 4 months full time, or equivalent part-time, in the last 2 years
  • Are Australian residents living in Victoria
  • Will enrol in training to improve their workforce skills and/or earning potential
  • Have not received a grant under the program Parents Returning to Work
  • Were unable to activate their Parents Returning to Work grant due to unforseen circumstances.
*Accredited English Language training is an exception to this condition.
**For the purposes of the Returning to Earning program, 'unemployed' is deemed to include paid employment for less than 6.5 hours per week

This completely free government funded service is available at Coonara for those wanting to gain formal recognition for existing skills. There is no obligation to subsequently enrol in Coonara courses.

Flexible Learning


All accredited courses at Coonara are presented using Flexible delivery.

What does this mean?
Portions of the courses are delivered using a variety of methods
  • Class work and group discussions.
  • Online resources including course timetables, assessment materials and support via our privately managed wikispaces
  • Online discussions using programs such as, MSN or other available Live classroom programs.

How does this benefit the learner?
  • New computer skills learned or enhanced
  • Self paced learning
  • Tutor to student support
  • Student to student support
  • Online collaboration for group projects

What do you need?
  • Good skills working with word documents
  • Email account
  • Access and familiarity with the internet
  • Some training provided


Students who do not have access to a computer or the internet are welcome to use the computer facilities at Coonara (bookings required)

Alternative arrangements can be made for students unable to take advantage of this service.
