Turning your Writing to Manuscript/Book Writing Basics

New Beginners are welcome to join the class.

This course is best suited to continuing learners who have completed the Introduction to Creative Writing course. However, new learners are also welcome to join as there will be opportunities to review topics from previous terms. Learners will continue organising and refining their writing portfolios and making decisions about content selection for submission to class projects.

  • Compare how writing style and structure varies across genres.
  • Experiment with different ways to use point of view and voice in your writing.
  • Learn how to identify various elements of book design, as well as recognise different structures.
  • Practise editing for yourself, as well as for others.
  • Be safely introduced to the peer feedback process.
  • Practise presentation skills to help you to overcome stage-fright and show up to open-mic events with more confidence and poise.

Completion of the Introduction to Creative Writing is ideal, but not mandatory.
